JOPLIN, WISHING By: Diane Stanley

JOPLIN, WISHING  By: Diane Stanley
Joplin, Wishing is an amazing funny, and yet sincere story, all about a girl called Sofie trapped for about 300 years in a platter, bid to do everyone who owns hers wishes. She wishes to go back home, and though people have tried to set her free, the one who entrapped Sofie in the first place is the only one who can free her. When Joplin, an eleven year old girl who has no friends, finds the tray and wishes Sofie to be her friend, finds out about Sofie's entrapment, she and another new friend, Barret, are determined to free her. They must find her imprisoner to free her forever.
A great book, full of funny and sad pieces. Before I was halfway in, I was thinking that Joplin, Wishing would soon be part of my collection. (Note: I feel like it would be good to add in Joplin telling her mom she is sorry for lying to her about Sofie.) Ages 8-12 $16.99 Harper

Calliope is told not to tell anyone what is wrong with her. How on earth is she supposed to keep something like this a secret. Told in prose this book is a quick read, but one you will want to share with your friends. I probably have already told you too much. But I hope you will read this book. WORLDS GREATEST DETECTIVE By: Caroline Carlson

WORLD'S GREATEST DETECTIVE   By: Caroline Carlson
The World's Greatest Detective is an amazing book. It begins by introducing us to Toby Montrose. He has had a difficult life. When his parents died he was passed around the family "like a sack of potatoes." Uncle Gabriel is the only family member left to care for Toby, and if Toby is not on his best behavior, he'll be sent to the orphanage (bom, bom, bom!). Already Toby fears being sent to the orphanage because of all of Uncle Gabriel's unpaid bills, so when he hears about a contest hosted by the world's greatest detective, Hugh Abernathy, with money as the prize, he's in. Unfortunately, just before the contest starts, Hugh Abernathy is found dead! All the detectives start to search for the culprit. Will Toby, and his new friend, Ivy, be able to find the culprit first?
It took me a few days to get into this book, but then it grabbed hold of me, and it was painful to put it down even for just a few minutes. I fell in love with he characters and enjoyed having my own list of suspects. The book was funny at times, and it got very intense. I would whoop for joy when they had a success, and groan when there was a fail.
I give this book 4 and 1/2 stars( I had to knock off a half star because of the searing in the book).

LOST FROST GIRL By: Amy Wilson

LOST FROST GIRL  By: Amy Wilson
Intriguing is the word to describe this modern day fairy tale.  Owl, that is her name, is just an ordinary girl, or so she seems. Her mother after all named her Owl. But one day she starts seeing a thin layer of ice crystals on her hands. She is scared, and the one person she really needs to talk to is her best friend, Mallory. Mallory parents are just newly separated and she is having trouble herself. Mallory wants Owl to find out who her father is. Owl tries and her mother says his name is Jack Frost. What would you do if you father wasn't exactly human? I am giving way to much information about the story. You must read this for  yourself. It won't be out till November 7, 2017. I can hardly wait to sell it to you. Katherine Tegen Books Ages 8-12 $16.99

FINDING PERFECT By: Elly Swartz

FINDING PERFECT  By: Elly Swartz
Molly Nathans is what some would call a neat freak. She is obsessed with having every single thin perfect. Molly also has some weird habits, she is constantly counting by 4, carefully aligning her glass animal collection, and sharpening no. 2 pencils. When her mother leaves her family of 5 to work in Canada, things get even worse. But Molly has a plan. She is going to win the annual Poetry Slam competition, which will force her mom to come back for the final round. As the deadline looms closer and closer Molly starts to get worried. Every time things are not perfectly organized she feels that she has to reorganize it or else something "bad" will happen. She cannot stop counting, she has to wash her hands 4 times before she eats anything, almost everything she does has to be done 4 times. Molly is worried she is going crazy and people are starting to notice. This is an amazing book that i would recommend to anyone who enjoys realistic fiction. Almost anyone could read and enjoy this book but ages 9-14 will probably like it the best.  Reviewed by Ella age 13, $16.99 Farrar Straus and Giroux
