Molly is a foster child, she is actually been bumping around the system. But she ends up at Dina's and  Ralph's home in foster care. Molly is just a great girl, but one day at the library she steals the book the Secret Garden. Molly ends up getting caught by the librarian and has to do twenty hours of community service. Her friend from school, Jack has his mother get her community service with an elderly lady, Vivian. She wants Molly to go through the boxes in her attic and clean it out. Vivian is in her nineties. But every time Molly comes she tells her about the things she finds. Molly has to do a project at school about portaging. She has to interview someone from a long time ago. So she sets off to interview Vivian. The novel weaves Vivian's life from long ago with Mollys.'  Wonderful historical fiction and present day. Fabulous read. Great for a school class set.
