WORLDS GREATEST DETECTIVE By: Caroline Carlson

WORLD'S GREATEST DETECTIVE   By: Caroline Carlson
The World's Greatest Detective is an amazing book. It begins by introducing us to Toby Montrose. He has had a difficult life. When his parents died he was passed around the family "like a sack of potatoes." Uncle Gabriel is the only family member left to care for Toby, and if Toby is not on his best behavior, he'll be sent to the orphanage (bom, bom, bom!). Already Toby fears being sent to the orphanage because of all of Uncle Gabriel's unpaid bills, so when he hears about a contest hosted by the world's greatest detective, Hugh Abernathy, with money as the prize, he's in. Unfortunately, just before the contest starts, Hugh Abernathy is found dead! All the detectives start to search for the culprit. Will Toby, and his new friend, Ivy, be able to find the culprit first?
It took me a few days to get into this book, but then it grabbed hold of me, and it was painful to put it down even for just a few minutes. I fell in love with he characters and enjoyed having my own list of suspects. The book was funny at times, and it got very intense. I would whoop for joy when they had a success, and groan when there was a fail.
I give this book 4 and 1/2 stars( I had to knock off a half star because of the searing in the book).
